North Harris Trust Byelaw Revision

As we have recently struggled to recruit Directors from some areas, we have decided that our Byelaws need further revision. This allows increased flexibility for potential Directors while retaining a high degree of representation by township area. So, we have updated from the previous 10 area Directors / 2 general Directors to 8 area Directors / 4 general Directors, leaving the total number of possible elected North Harris Trust Directors at 12. Byelaws ensure clarity around Membership and the process by which North Harris Trust Director appointments are made in accordance with our Articles of Association.
The latest Byelaws were adopted at our last board meeting on 31st March 2026, they can be found in full on our website at north-harris.org/documents and physical copies can also be provided at our offices. Although it is the Board of Directors which has the ability to update our Byelaws, any Member may make a suggestion to improve them. We always welcome any comments or suggestions from our Members and will actively seek comment on our Byelaws at our Annual General Meeting, which we hope to hold in May.
Remember, if you live in North Harris you are encouraged to become a Member of the North Harris Trust, as an important way to show your support for the organisation. Members are especially invited to contribute to our annual consultation process and also have the opportunity to vote on important matters at our AGM, including the election of our Directors. If you are not yet a Member, and think you might be interested and eligible, please get in touch with us for more information and an application form.

The shift from 10 to 8 area directors while adding 2 general seats is a smart fix for recruitment. How are you planning to communicate these changes to existing township representatives? https://stl-viewer.org
