Bothan Eilein Ghlais

Scalpay Bothy

We own a small stone-built building on Eilean Glas, adjacent to the lighthouse grounds, known as Scalpay Bothy. This building offers a sheltered seating area as well as hosting Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) signage and equipment.  Eilean Glas Lighthouse is a designated shorewatch site as part of the WDC Shorewatch Project.

A small exhibition space is also contained within this building which is currently used by Commun Eachdraidh Scalpaigh.  Please note that the building is not connected with the Mountain Bothy Association or any similar organisation and is not designed for overnight stays.

Please be aware that the lighthouse grounds are privately owned, the lighthouse itself remains owned and operated by the Northern Lighthouse Board.

Facilities on site: shelter, seating, table, interpretation.
