Basking sharks
Two basking sharks seen at the mouth of Loch Seaforth on the 18th August.
Minke and possible fin whales
Lots of cetacean activity at Eileen Glas lighthouse, Scalpay. Porpoises, Minke whales and possible Fin whales all seen from the shore.
Swallows
The swallows are back!
Common Dolphins, Porpoises, Puffins and sunshine!
Loads happening down at Eilean Glas lighthouse on Scalpay. Large pod of common Dolphins and two smaller pods of Porpoises not far from shore.
Lots of Puffins and Razor Bills feeding.
02/May- Cuckoo
Cuckoo, possibly two heard in Miabhaig this morning.
29th April-Gannets and Porpoises
Large flock of Gannets Fishing around what looked to be Porpoise about 200m out from the beach at Teilesnish.
28th April- Two Merlins
Two Merlins sighted. The first was seen from the road at Buna diving onto a small gathering of Pipits. Second sighting was at the beginning of Glen Miabhaig flying across the Glen.
9th February – Sea Eagle, Stags, Buzzards
A wildlife-rich drive to Tarbert from Amhuinnsuidhe yesterday morning: a juvenile sea eagle flying very low over the road at Cliasmol being mobbed by a pair of gulls; a red deer stag at Tolmachan; and two buzzards, at Buna and Ardhasaig! A buzzard is quite regularly seen perched on top of the chimney of the old Whaling Station at Buna.
