Major improvement works to the first 3km of the Bowglas path were completed during the year, with the assistance of Western Isles Countryside Access Programme and the Community Employment Initiative of the local council. WICAP has also funded the replacement of the footbridge in Glen Langadale and phase 1 of improvements to the Rhenigidale-Urgha path, which are currently underway. This funding will total approximately £47,000 over the last 2 years and has been invaluable in helping us to maintain and approve the 36 miles or so of paths we are responsible for. A planned maintenance schedule will be drawn up and the Board has committed £10,000 annually for this purpose.
