The majority of the Trust Board are crofters ( of the 9 local directors, one is a crofter's wife and 7 are active in crofting ) and we see our role in this area as being one of encouraging development at individual and township level.

With the impending integration of the Loch Seaforth Estate and the many land based projects currently under way, the Trust feels that the appointment of a Land Manager is the way forward. It is hoped that the post will begin in May of this year and partial funding for three years, has been approved by the Community Land Unit of HIE, with an additional application to SNH, pending decision. The Land Manager will work closely with crofters and manage projects related to the natural environment.
